PROUDLY SERVING VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES ACROSS BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA

At Greene Law Firm, LLC, we recognize the extraordinary sacrifices you’ve made in service to our nation.

As a trusted advocate for Alabama’s veterans, our mission is to ensure you and your family receive the VA benefits you’ve earned.

Below, we answer common questions about VA benefits and outline how we can support you every step of the way.

WHAT VA BENEFITS ARE AVAILABLE?

What kinds of benefits can I apply for through the VA?

The VA offers a wide range of benefits, and we’re here to help you access the ones you’re entitled to. These include:

  • Disability Compensation: For veterans with service-connected injuries or illnesses, such as PTSD, back injuries, or respiratory conditions from exposure to burn pits.

  • Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC): Financial assistance for surviving spouses and dependents of veterans who died in service or from service-connected conditions.

  • Death Pension Benefits: Aid for low-income surviving spouses or dependents.

  • 1151 Claims: Compensation for injuries or deaths caused by VA medical malpractice or negligence.

If you’re unsure which benefits apply to you, we’ll help evaluate your situation and identify the programs that fit your needs.

COMMON SERVICE-RELATED DISABILITIES

What types of service-related issues does Greene Law Firm handle?

We focus in complex cases, including but not limited to:

  • Agent Orange Exposure: If you served in Vietnam or other affected regions, you may qualify for compensation related to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or cancer.

  • Camp Lejeune Water Contamination: Veterans who served at Camp Lejeune may suffer from specific illnesses caused by toxic water exposure.

  • Burn Pit Exposure: Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan often face respiratory issues and cancers due to exposure to burn pits.

  • Service-Related Physical Injuries and Mental Health Conditions: Whether it’s a back injury, hearing loss, or PTSD, we can help.

Our team knows how challenging it can be to provide the evidence required by the VA. We’re here to assist in gathering medical records, service documents, and expert opinions to strengthen your case.

DENIED CLAIMS AND APPEALS

What should I do if my VA claim is denied?

A denial is not the end of the road. If your claim was denied, you have the right to appeal. Under the Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017, you have three appeal options:

  1. Higher-Level Review: Request a senior VA official to reexamine your original claim for errors.

  2. Supplemental Claim: Submit new and relevant evidence to support your case.

  3. Board of Veterans’ Appeals: Take your case to a veterans law judge for a comprehensive review or hearing.

If your claim was denied before February 2019, the legacy appeals process may still apply. We’ll guide you through the steps and deadlines to ensure your appeal is filed correctly.
